Hey guys! As I said in my previous blog, the next blog I would be writing this weekend would be my next update on my Bass House project! Well look no further cause here it is! In today's blog I'll be taking you guys through the current build up section for my new track and how the overall track is progressing so far! Let's take a look shall we?

The session

As you guys can see above, we've progressed a fair bit from last time! In yesterday's studio session I decided that I would focus entirely on the build-up towards the drop to make the breakdown sections easier to make when I get to them. So far, it's relatively basic with a light impact at the beginning with a riser and clap progression towards the end. I have also place a light auto filter automation on the main bass to give a sense of tension while it gets deeper and deeper towards the drop. The processing for this will be shown below along with some other elements I have lightly processed.

Current Processing on a few elements...

After listening to my last bounce of the session I did before this session, I realised it was about bloody time I did (at the very minimum) some processing on some bass synths so they don't all clash in the 100Hz region that the sub rules. Below, you'll find my current processing for the main and wobble basses, which is essentially just some light EQ and compression. In other words, EQ, Sidechain and auto filtering ;).

Main bass processing - current

The processing for this bass in its current state is essentially just keep it from smudging with the sub bass and to balance it out with the kick with some sidechain. The EQ on this bass is just a low pass filter cutting off any unwanted low frequencies in the 100Hz region but also not taking out too much to the point where its not 'deep' sounding anymore. In terms of the Auto Filter, I've automated it slightly to begin its cutoff frequency at around 260Hz or so and progressively makes it way back to normal (no filter). Generally, I don't do automation until the very end of the project, but I was just dying to experiment with new stuff I'd never done before. That and my OCD kicked in big time when the impact on the drop wasn't big enough...

Wobble Bass Processing - Current (EQ)

This one is rather small right now as its just an EQ cutting a few slight low and high frequencies. As I mentioned in my previous update blog for this project, this synth was already pretty dirty as it is so I needed to make sure it wasn't clashing with anything. In addition to this I also added a second unison voice to it to give a little more body when it makes an appearance in the drop. I also decided in my most recent studio session that this synth needs to shine a little more through out the track, so you'll be seeing a lot more of this in the final product ;).

To finish

Overall, the session went rather well and I managed to get a decent build-up created by the end of it. The next plan of action is to get the breakdown sections created and finished to the intro and outro can be done. Once everything is established, it won't be much longer until the final product gets released! Keen to show you guys everything I've been working on! Until next time!
