The Kindred Collective

So finally moving on from producer blogs for once I thought I'd share something kinda cool with you guys that I've been part of recently and helping to grow! This blog is purely dedicated to the morals, principals and goals of the Kindred Collective!

What is Kindred?

The Kindred Collective is a large group of up and coming DJ's, Electronic Producers and other artists within the Brisbane and Gold Coast areas. This collective is run by our fantastic creative director - Thea Naomi Wall (otherwise known as FEIA) who has incredible visions for future events and growth of this group.

What is the purpose?

Unlike a record label, the Kindred Collective is simply a group of young and aspiring artists working together to create friendships and build larger networks together. It's a community where a lot of different individuals with different goals and dreams can all meet together to share their passion and love for music (more specifically in the electronic area) with one another. To put it simply, the moral/belief of this collective is that as singular artists, we have to bear a lot of weight and burdens on our own. But, if we stand together, we can share our weight and help push each other forward. We stand more of a chance of making it in this harsh industry together rather than having to tackle it all alone.

What do we do to maintain this?

Even though it is still in the early stages, Thea's main goal is to run compulsory monthly catch-ups where we meet together and share and play music with one another. Whether that be in the form of showcasing our latest projects, playing our stuff live or even curating our favourite tracks into DJ mixes, everything is welcome at Kindred.

Supporting artist growth

As the creative director, Thea has taken it upon herself to see to it that everybody who takes part in this collective grows as an artist and in online presence. By clicking the link in the intro to this blog you will be taken to the Kindred SoundCloud where Thea has already begun curating a large sum of work across the 20 or so current artists in Kindred. Granted, this is still being worked on and built as we are in the beginning stages but it will grow tremendously over the next month the way I see it. Following this, across all popular social media platforms, Kindred is running a 'meet the crew' series where each week, a new artists from the collective is revealed to the public and is promoted across all of their personal and musical platforms. This has already begun to take effect as two artists have already started benefitting from this.

Overall goals

These I can't specifically share just yet as I am still learning a lot myself as I go. However, I have no doubt that with the help of its fellow artists and amazing director, Kindred Collective will have its time in the sun very soon...
